At 5 months, Kate:
*can roll over from tummy to back and back to tummy
*can sit up in the "tripod" position for a few minutes by herself
*gets really proud of herself when we clap for her
*does everything on her terms. She will only laugh, smile, roll over, sit, etc if she wants to
*eats about every 3 hours during the day but sometimes will go 4. Goes to bed around 9pm, wakes up to eat about 5am, and goes back to sleep until around 8am. Takes 2 naps a day, one in the morning and one at night and they range anywhere from an hour to about two and a half
*is SO interested in food. She grabs everything we are eating. Soon baby, very soon
*loves to have sips of water off of a spoon or from the end of a straw
*loves to play with toys. Some favorites include; her mat, her red ball, her links (her very favorite!), her flower toy, and her book that makes crinkle noises.
*sucks on her swaddle blankets all the time
*loves to eat both her hands and her feet. Pretty much is always holding onto her feet when she is laying on her back
*is such a chill little baby. She really is so calm and good almost all the time
*doesn't hate her car seat anymore. Yay! Does like to poop while she is in it though, which ALWAYS goes straight up her back. Not very fun to clean up
*is very ticklish
*loves to read her books with momma every morning
*is so adorable. Everyone always comments on how cute she is and how pretty her eyes are
*always pulls her bows off and tries to eat them
*wearing 3-6 month clothes/onesies/jammies. She will still be in the clothes for a few more months for sure. She tends to grow out of P.J.'s first because they get too short in the torso
*likes to play this game with momma when she is eating where she will stop, look up at me, and wait until I smile or laugh at her which makes her laugh, then she goes back to eating. It is actually really funny
*is so interested in everything and everyone around her. She will just sit and study people. Loves to watch little kids running around
*is and always has been so wiggly. I am just waiting for the day when she really can move. She will never stop
*loves to stick her little tongue out as far as it will go and lick or chin or her chest if she can haha
*tries to sit up when she is on her back. She has an awesome hollow body hold that she will do for a few minutes to try and sit up
*is very interested in our phones and ipad. She always tries to grab them. Kids learn that stuff way too young now....
*sits and talks in her crib until we go get her when she wakes up in the morning or from naps
*seems to know her name. She looks up at us when we say it. Definitely knows momma and daddys voice
*nicknames (so far) include: Miss Kate, Little Miss Kate, Baby Kate, KK, Kate-Kate
Dear Kate,
I cannot even put into words the love I have for you. You make me so happy. Your smile and your laugh can always put me in a good mood no matter what, even when I desperately need you to take your nap so I can get something done and you are refusing haha. I don't know how I got so luckily to have you. I am amazed everyday that I am your mom and that you are mine forever and ever. I love to see you interact with your daddy and see the love you have for each other. Your little voice and stories you tell are my favorite thing in the entire world. Watching you learn and grow is so awesome. Every time you do something new I am so proud and I love the proud look you get on your face too! You have so many people that love you so much. You make everyone around you smile. I feel like I have to pay attention to and cherish every moment with you because you are already growing up way to fast!
We love you baby girl!
That is such a sweet letter Jaeme. It is amazing the love you feel for your own little ones. Guess what? It never goes away :). I love you, and of course our sweet baby Kate. You are both a bright spot in my day and life!
